A stamp costs 82¢ before a drop of ink hits the card. Mail 25,000 of them and postage alone eats most of the budget. The only question is how many businesses are splitting that bill. Here is every line item, both ways.
These are the real costs for a business sending its own card — the deepest USPS presort discount, trade print pricing, a rented owner-occupied list and a lettershop to sort and drop it.
| Line item | Per home | Across 25,000 homes |
|---|---|---|
| Bulk postage — deepest presort USPS Marketing Mail rateA single First-Class stamp is 82¢; presort gets you under half of that, with a permit and a minimum volume. | 46.7¢ | $11,675 |
| Printing, full color both sides, 6×9 on heavy stock | 24–32¢ | $6,000–$8,000 |
| Mailing-list rental & address scrub (owner-occupied, CASS/NCOA) | 3–5¢ | $750–$1,250 |
| Lettershop — addressing, sort, tray, drop at the BMEU | 6–10¢ | $1,500–$2,500 |
| Design, spread across the run | 4–8¢ | $1,000–$2,000 |
| Your cost per homeTypical range 84¢–$1.02 | ~96¢ | $24,000+ |
Postage figures reflect published USPS rates as of 2026; print, list and lettershop are typical trade quotes for a 25,000-piece run. Your numbers will move a few cents either way — the shape doesn't change.
| Option | Who gets it | What you pay | What you handle |
|---|---|---|---|
| Solo postcard, presorted | Your list — can be owner-occupied if you rent one | ~96¢ a home · $24,000+ | Design, printer, list, lettershop, permit, tracking. Every piece of it. |
| Every Door Direct Mail (EDDM) | Every address on the carrier route — renters, apartments and all | 26¢ postage + print + your time · roughly $7,500 and up | Design, printing, bundling by route, the drop. EDDM vs. shared mail, in detail. |
| Best in Business pack | 25,000 verified owner-occupied homes, 7 communities | About 90% less than the solo card. The exact rate depends on your category and how many drops you lock. | Send us your offer. We design, print, mail and track it. You answer the phone. |
We pull your branding from your website, write the offer with you and proof it before press. No designer to hire.
Heavyweight card stock, cellophane-wrapped with the rest of the pack so it arrives looking like something.
You never buy a stamp. A tracked phone number or QR code on every card tells you what the drop produced.
Why not just publish the rate? Because it isn't one number — a restaurant's entry rate, a roofer's single drop and a CPA's locked season are three different quotes. Text 406-600-5278 with your category and you'll have yours in two minutes.
Postage. Even at the deepest presort discount, moving one piece of mail costs about 47¢, and First-Class is 82¢. Print, list, lettershop and design add another 40–50¢. Nothing about Bozeman makes it cheaper — the only lever is how many businesses share the postage.
Per piece, yes — about 26¢ postage. But EDDM goes to every address on a carrier route, including apartments and renters who can't hire a roofer or sign a mortgage, and you still pay for print, design and the drop yourself. For home services and professionals, paying less to reach the wrong households is not a savings.
Roughly twenty complementary businesses split one mailing to 25,000 homes. Postage, print and lettershop are shared; design and tracking are included. Your card still lands in every one of those mailboxes.
Text or call 406-600-5278 with your business type. Rates vary by category and by how many drops you reserve, and restaurants have a lower entry rate.
Two advertisers per category, and the first two reservations hold them. Reserve by October 23 for the next drop. Design is on us.
